The 2016 CMA Fest kicks off June 9 in Nashville, and this year’s lineup features a wealth of up-and-coming talent. Over the next week, we’ll be spotlighting rising artists we think you should make a point to check out while you’re at the festival. Today, we’re shining a light on Steve Moakler, one of the most talented songwriters in Nashville today.
Ten years ago, Steve Moakler moved from his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa. to try and pursue a full-time career as a songwriter. Soon after, his songs were cut by a number of major country artists, including Jake Owen and Dierks Bentley. Although he’s been performing his own solo material for years, his brand new, self-titled EP features the breakthrough single “Suitcase,” which is still climbing the country charts.
Moakler’s incredible talents as a songwriter are only eclipsed by his impressive vocals, which infuse intense emotion and honesty into every line. The best way to experience his sound is through a live performance, so you’ll want to make sure you check him out during his appearance at this year’s festival.
Catch Steve Moakler at the 2016 CMA Fest from 3:15-3:45 PM on Wednesday, June 8 at the Gildan Broadway Stage at Hard Rock Cafe.
