Country hopeful Shelby Brown blew away the judges during her blind audition for The Voice this week.
The 16-year-old Alabama native supplied a show-stopping cover of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals’ “Stars”, which caught the attention of all four celebrity judges.
Although the first verse of her audition was strong, her breakthrough moment came within the first few notes of the chorus. As her powerhouse voice soared, every judge hit their buzzer in approval and awarded her with a standing ovation. Her pure yet incredibly powerful voice brings back memories of Carrie Underwood during her early American Idol days. It’s obvious Brown has a lot of talent that could be cultivated into something big.
Brown could have picked any of the four judges and it seemed like Blake Shelton was an obvious choice for the talented youngster. Surprisingly, she chose pop band Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, who has already snagged many strong country performers during this season’s blind audition period.
“I am blown away,” Levine said after the audition. “I think that girl is only at the very beginning of what she is capable of.”
