Singer Kelsie May gets the judges fired up with a Loretta Lynn classic.
Is old-school country making a comeback? I think so. We’re hearing more and more up-and-coming artists play traditional country music, even contestants on The Voice. That was the case during Monday’s blind auditions when 15-year-old contestant Kelsie May belted out Loretta Lynn’s “You’re Looking at Country.”
All it took was one minute for Blake Shelton to turn his chair around for the young country singer. Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams quickly followed suit.
In her pitch to May, Aguilera told the young singer she’d get lost in the mix of Shelton’s country-heavy team. Aguilera lost, and May ended up on Team Shelton.
