Stop throwing your bottle caps away! Those obstacles between you and your beer can now have endless purposes.
You’ve seen crafts made with these caps before — A friend shows up to the bar with bottle cap earrings dangling from her ears. Your buddy has a picture frame or sign decorated with caps. Maybe you’ve even used a bottle cap coaster or played poker with bottle cap chips.
The creative minds across the Internet have thought up some insanely cool DIY bottle cap projects. Whether you have sacks full of caps or just two, whether you’re a pro crafter or just a newbie, you will find a project on this list perfect for you.
1. Bottle Cap Table Top
At one point or another, everyone has wanted to make a bottle cap table top. Problem is you aren’t sure how to get started (other than collecting the caps, of course). This instructable spells it out in easy steps with pictures. Now you have no excuse not to make that beer pong table or bar top covered in caps.
2. Bottle Cap Jewelry
There are about a million different ways to use bottle caps to make jewelry. You can go with a simple five-step tutorial or get super complex (totally worth it!). Earrings, necklaces, bracelets…if you can dream it up, you can make it.
3. Bottle Cap Tea Candles
These little suckers will burn for an hour to an hour and a half each, giving you just enough time to drink some beer before making more! Luckily, they are extremely easy to make, which means that even after a few drinks, you’ll have no problem with this DIY project.
4. Bottle Cap Magnets
There are hundreds of different websites devoted to this three-step DIY project; but Lulastic and the Hippy Shake‘s quick and dirty tutorial gives instructions without mucking things up. These magnets are customized with whatever background you want (there are some neat literature and music-themed ones out there as well).
5. Bottle Cap Blacksplash
This one requires a bit more effort, but it’s worthwhile for the cool backsplash. For this project, the caps replace tiles. Simply stick them up as you would normal tiles, grout, seal and admire. Make sure you plan out your pattern beforehand!
6. Bottle Cap Wind Chime
There’s nothing “too hard” here. With a sink strainer, eye bolts and jump rings, you can easily make this unique wind chime. Of course, you don’t need to be reminded to use caps from your favorite beers.
7. Bottle Cap Fishing Lures
What’s better than this DIY craft that combines two of men’s favorite things: drinking and fishing? This easy-to-follow instructional video walks you through the process, even adding a rattle to attract your next lunker.
8. Bottle Cap Garland
With a little chalkboard vinyl and some hot glue, the possibilities are limitless. You could also skip the lettering and simply stick with the original design on the caps. This project is perfect for adding extra flair to jazz up a room or, you know, a bucket of beer.
9. Shadow Box
Ok, so this one isn’t so much of a project as a collection. But it’s still pretty cool. You no longer have to wonder just how much of an alcoholic you are; the rising tide of beer caps in this shadow box displays it clearly. You can also get shadow boxes customized with a design of your choice.
10. Bottle Cap Map
I know, I know. Technically, this isn’t a DIY either. But hey, someone has to drink all that beer! Besides, this map is just far too amazing not to include. You get to fill in the 50 states with your favorite beers from each one. Beer Cap Map also sells maps for individual states like California, Michigan and Texas.
