This season of The Voice is filled with country artists, and they aren’t just on Team Blake. In fact, for the first time in the show’s history, all four coaches have at least one solid country artist who could win the whole thing. Let’s take a look at some of the best country artists this season has to offer.
Shelby Brown: 16; Elberta, Alabama; Team Adam
Shelby is clearly a country girl, but she shocked everyone when she chose Adam as her coach. It may not have been the best decision on her part, as she barely squeaked through the Battle rounds, but hopefully Adam will help bring her back to her country roots.
Summer Schappell: 21; Redding, California; Team Gwen
They didn’t actually air Summer’s battle song, but it’s clear from her audition that she certainly has the chops to sing country. Those chops, combined with her sweet, but funky style under the coaching of a female music icon could make her a force to be reckoned with.
Morgan Frazier: 22; Nashville, Tennessee; Team Pharrell
It will be interesting to see what Pharrell does with a country artist, albeit one he stole from Blake after the Battle rounds. Last year, he helped folk artist Sawyer Fredericks rise to the top, but one could argue that Sawyer was simply unbeatable. Morgan may require a little more guidance and Pharrell may be the perfect coach to provide that.
Barrett Baber: 35; Fayetteville, Arkansas; Team Blake
Blake’s team is filled with country artists, more so this year than ever before. However, Barrett seems to be the frontrunner thus far. After viewing his blind audition, Blake compared Barrett to Garth Brooks himself. In country music, it doesn’t get much better than that. His Battle performance was one of the best in the show’s history, and it was great to see his rival, Dustin Christensen, snatched up by Adam. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised to see both of these talented guys in the finale.
